“She ran because it was all she could do.  Because she could no longer be the girl who had climbed into that tree to hide from the world.  She was the Oracle.”

I received an ARC of: Sacrificed via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

My first thought after diving into this book was: “Why on Earth didn’t I read this earlier?”  I have an ever growing pile of to-read books and on top of this it was a netgalley review so I KNOW I should have tried to get to it sooner.  I wish I had, because this book is absolutely breath-taking.  I loved pretty much everything about this.  I’m a sucker for an oracle-type story on it’s own.  I find the element of seeing the future and what you can and can not change with what you see fascinating. Reflection, does not read like a typical book.  It doesn’t have the usual climax and ending.  It is meant to be read as a continuing story into the next book so there is no climax at all and kinda just…ends.  Now this was new to me and I kind of like it.  A lot was left unsaid so I definitely want to read the next one. “He spoke matter-of-factly.  Quite normally, as if he was promising not to leave his towels on the floor anymore, instead of not killing  a ship full of people.”

Hah so to be honest I read this book because my all time favorite author Nalini Singh had sang it’s praises here on goodreads.  Before that I honestly didn’t know this book existed but I am quite glad to have stumbled across it.  Dark Horse was an interesting story.  It had romance, aliens, sci-fi, fascinating world-building and great characters.  What’s not to love? “I knew what that look meant.  One of her astrological-reading-séance-hypnosis thingies.”

I received an ARC of: LINK (The Shadow of Light #1) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have no idea what I expected going into LINK from the description to be honest but what I got was phenomenal.  LINK was such a wild ride.  It was most definitely unexpected in a good way and to me it was a fun and new idea.  I have personally not read too many sci-fi novels but I have never read even close to this kind of plot before.  Which I find refreshing.  I don’t really want to spoil that because it was written so well that I was confused and learned what was going right along with Kira (our lovely lead). “They wanted to kill her, so this Vhalla would die, she resolved, and a new Vhalla would be born from her ashes.”

My first thought on this book was that everything was peaceful…until the fire nation attacked.  There are so many Avatar: the Last Airbender parallels that I couldn’t help but notice.  Elemental magic and all the airbenders (I mean windwalkers) have been wiped out by the fire nation (Firebearer’s and Solaris Empire).  There is even a “Fire Lord” in our swoon-worthy Prince Aldrik.  Of course Vhalla is the last remaining windwalker. “For that second, she was his.  For that second, she saw everything that he had meant to tell her.”

I received an ARC of: Netherworld (The Chronicles of Koa #1) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

From the beginning of Netherworld, I was hooked.  It had a fast paced beginning and easily kept my interest.  I pretty much knocked the book out in four hours and only really paused it to make dinner.  As soon as I finished it I purchased the sequel on my kindle.  Urgh that cover.  Love it. “I suppose I shouldn’t argue with the queen.”

WARNING: One spoiler ahead.  Only one I think 😀

Considering all the glowing reviews on this I guess I set my expectations higher.  I saw people comparing it to Cinder but honestly the only parallels are a fairy tail retelling and our main character is a mechanic.  I guess an evil queen but to me, Queen Olivia has nothing on Queen Levana.
