Oh Lila. You were probably my favorite character. Flamecaster was a good start to an intriguing fantasy series. Now I have not read her prior series (The Seven Realms). It is true that you don’t need to read it to understand anything happening in Flamecaster. Chima has a fantastic writing style. It’s not quite the incredibly long-winded super slow intricate gigantic web you see in most fantasy. It had good pacing and moments of peace and action. A nice mixture. We also see a mix of POVs. While we usually are following Ash or Jenna we also get a sprinkle of Lila and Destin as well. Continue reading

Ohmigod. I am not exactly sure where I want to begin. I don’t think I’ve ever read a sequel that not only did I enjoy so much more than the first in a series, but that made me actually want to re-read the first book that I honestly didn’t care for all that much just to see all the hidden links I missed because I was bored. If I can choke through the first 2/3 with Tamlin. Perhaps I’ll just reread certain parts.
OH RHYSAND YOU HAVE WON MY HEART. I had to reread my review of the first book and realized oh how wrong I was. You are silky and dark and sexy and EVERYTHING I EVER WANT OR NEED. Snarky, flirty, dangerous, sensual, playful. ERMAGHERD THIS 600+ PAGE BOOK WAS NOT ENOUGH. Continue reading
